OTW 9 Published

Once upon a time there were a couple of clients who were less than impressed with the noticeboards at DHI. One of them decided to tidy them up, add some humour and current, relevant, news stories from the press. The other, who had a some experience in publishing thought the board was beginning to look like a flat plan for a magazine. With the addition of a Who’s Who and a What’s On at DHI Off The Wall was born. These intrepid co-founders were joined by a couple of other committed peers who wrote some personal stories and other useful hints and tips for recovery and living on a reduced income. The first issue was well received and the management of DHI gave us full support to continue to publish. The magazine went through various design changes and has finally ended up looking as it does. The whole process of creating and producing the magazine was a rewarding, interesting, if occassionally a frustrating one. It also gave us focus, created a team and was actually a lot of fun. As you will appreciate times change and as people get well and move through the recovery programme they find their own way and move on. As a result the original team dwindled until only one remained. This could have spelled the end of the magazine. However, in order to maintain the production DHI agreed to pay for a part-time worker to maintain continuity and ensure the survival of the magazine. DHI Staff Bring Their Acupuncture Skills to Poland

In August 2007 Trish and Mick returned to Krakow in Poland to continue the links that DHI had made with the Monar drugs project at the International Harm Reduction Conference in May of this year.
